This is one of the Florida acting schools that offers an undergraduate program in acting and in musical theatre. The campus is located on a Nature Preserve.
In a small class-size environment, students in both programs take courses in acting, voice, movement, script analysis, auditioning technique and makeup, as well as in dramatic literature, technical theatre, theater history, theater design and directing.
Acting undergrads also study improvisation and acting for the camera, as well as different styles and methods of acting, while musical theater students take additional voice, dance and musical theater history classes.
Electives include scene study, lighting, costumes and playwriting. All students are required to take a certain number of courses in general studies.
Performance opportunities: The school has an outdoor amphitheater and 2 indoor theaters, including a 450-seat proscenium theater where 5 productions are staged each season. There is also an annual concert showcase that mixes theatre and music (musical theater students work closely with the music department).
Career preparation: The faculty is made up of working professionals. The university has a resident theater company that allows students to work with professional actors. There are several internship opportunities.

Financial Aid: Federal, state and UWF grants and scholarships are available, as well as student loans. Applicants to the theater program can also audition for a talent scholarship. The department also has a work-study program and employment opportunities for students, like working the box-office or scene shop of the acting university.
