This acting school in New York offers a 3-year acting training in NYC based on the Alexander and Stanislavski techniques.
Performance opportunities: Actors perform in one-act plays in front of an invited audience during their second year. During the third year, students focus on acting in full productions, from classic plays and experimental theater to musicals and cabaret, while working with students from the directing and playwriting programs.
Career preparation: Future directors and playwrights also study here, which gives acting students an opportunity to build relationships and be part of the process of developing a new play. Actors also get help developing a career plan during their final year by attending sessions with agents, casting directors and other industry players. Graduating students appear in an industry showcase. This acting college has an artist-in-residence each year, a successful theatre artist who teaches a master class and participates in Q&A sessions.
Degree: MFA in Dramatic Arts.
Financial Aid: Merit-based scholarships are available for US citizens and international students.
What you’ll need to apply: Transcripts, headshot and resume, statement of purpose and two letters of recommendation. Auditions are held at the acting school in NY, as well as in London and several other cities across America. International students whose first language is not English need to submit TOEFL scores.
