QUESTION:
What experience do you need to become an actor/actress?
ANSWER:
If you mean life experience, the answer is “none”. All you need is imagination. What you do need is training, which you can get in acting school.
If you go to an acting university, you can often get some acting experience while in school, as many full-time acting programs include a chance to perform on stage in front of an invited audience. Some acting schools also help students get professional experience through internships or by helping their students audition for student films if the school has a film department.
If you don’t go to acting school, you can get experience through community theater and student films or by attending open calls. For a full list of ideas on how to gain experience when you’re starting out as an actor, click here.
