QUESTION:
If I live in America, can I act with British actors? (I do have a British accent.)
ANSWER:
There are plenty of acting roles in the US that require a British accent, especially in theater, so it’s a great asset. There are many British actors who live here. That being said, you’ll want to eventually learn to do an American accent so you don’t limit the roles you can audition for. A speech class or accent elimination class will take care of that. Before you start, though, put yourself on tape. Your British accent will be less strong the more time you spend here, so it’s good to have a recording of what your original accent is like should you ever need it as a reference for a character.
