QUESTION:
My son, who is 11yrs old, has advised me he would like to become an actor. What can I do to get him started in this line of work? Thank you.
ANSWER:
The first thing to do is to find a good child acting class for him. This way, you can make sure he enjoys acting and gets the proper training. Look for a class that offers good acting training yet is fun for kids.
If he still loves it after taking classes for a while, talk to his teacher and parents of other kids in the class about getting headshots and an agent for him. They will probably be able to recommend good photographers and agents to contact. Never sign with an agent who requires a fee in order to represent your child or asks that you use a particular photographer for his headshots.
